Face Recognition Lock Development
Face recognition locks designed around doorway lighting, mounting height and battery life.
Overview
Face recognition on a door is a harder problem than face recognition on a desk. The user stands at a natural distance, the doorway may be backlit, the device is battery powered, and the recognition has to happen before the person reaches for the handle.
We design the optical path, mounting height and field of view around the actual door, then implement a presence-triggered wake so the recognition engine is not running continuously. Liveness detection uses an infrared or depth path rather than visible-light comparison alone.
The product also needs a fallback. Face recognition is convenient but not always available — low light, sunglasses, a child at the wrong height — so PIN, card or app unlock remain part of the design.
Capabilities
What this covers
IR liveness detection
Infrared or depth-based anti-spoofing that rejects printed photos and screen replay.
Doorway optics
Field of view, tilt and mounting height specified for a person approaching at normal walking distance.
Presence-triggered wake
Low-power presence detection so the recognition engine only runs when someone is actually there.
Fallback authentication
PIN, RFID card or app unlock remains available when face recognition is not suitable.
