Product Development
Industrial Design
Form, proportion and finish for electronic products — designed so that they can actually be molded and assembled.
Overview
Industrial design in a hardware project is not decoration applied at the end. It decides the user’s first impression, how the product is held and operated, where the antenna can live, how the PCB fits and how the tooling will be cut.
We develop the external form around the internal constraints from the start: board outline, battery volume, sensor openings, connector positions and the assembly sequence. Concept sketches move to 3D surface models, then to CMF specifications with real material and finish references.
For products that will be injection molded, we review draft angles, wall thickness, parting lines, gate positions and snap-fit details with the toolmaker before the design is frozen. Finding those issues in CAD is inexpensive; finding them in a steel mold is not.
Capabilities
What this covers
Form development
Concept sketches and 3D surface models, iterated against the internal architecture rather than in isolation.
CMF specification
Color, material and finish defined with supplier-available options, including texture and gloss level targets.
Design for manufacture
Draft angles, wall thickness, parting lines and snap fits reviewed with the mold maker before release.
Production documentation
Surface data, renderings and finish specifications ready to hand to a toolmaker or contract manufacturer.
